MINISTRIES
The Music Ministry of Unity Baptist Church
has played a definitive role in the growth and development of Unity Baptist
Church.
The Music Ministry is currently under the direction
of Dr. Dorgan J. Needom.
Dr. Needom is a director, composer, and arranger.
He has served the Unity Baptist Church congregation for almost half a
century. He has established the Unity Baptist Church musical reputation
throughout the metropolitan Detroit area and throughout the country. He
has composed a number of musical selections, which have been recorded
by a number of gospel artists. His most famous composition, which has
been recorded by the Unity Baptist Choir and sung throughout the country,
is “When You Want To Talk To Jesus." The Unity Baptist Church
choirs have sung with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as well as other
known musical aggregations over the years.
In addition to having served the Unity Baptist
Church, Dr. Needom has served with the Michigan Baptist Fellowship Choir,
The National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Mass Choir, the Lucy Campbell
Music Workshop and has to his distinction as having served as the General
Music Director for the 2003 Sunday School and B.T.U. Congress of Christian
Education presentation in the Detroit, Michigan area.

The Voices of Unity (Young Adult Choir)
The Voices of Unity have participated in the recording of two albums “Give
Me Strength” and “Sing Praises” in conjunction with
the Senior Choir.
The Senior Choir
The Senior Choir has recorded two albums “Give Me Strength”
and “Sing Praises” in conjunction with the Voices of Unity.
The Consolation Choir
The Consolation Choir is the organization within the Unity Baptist Church
who primary function is to render music for funerals and memorial services
at the church. They also serve in non-musical capabilities to provide
comfort and solace to bereaved families.
